Good morning
We had grandkids last Monday (and sleepover), Tuesday and Wednesday as daycare was still on strike. DS was in Toronto for 3 days for his job too.
Easter... egg hunt was to be at ds' house but ddil said she couldn't do it as they are in kitchen renovations . Instead her sis, bil and niece came here too... so out we went to buy the plastic eggs and fillers for 5 kids. My family was invited too however it is 3 hours to come and 3 hours to go and dad is not feeling up to it. the others had said they probably wouldn't be here, it's ok everyone has their own family and now they are starting to have grandkids too.
So just in case I had prepped some chili and some meat stew.
Good Friday we went to Costco's to buy a cake. 17th was Anne-E's 4th birthday and 18th was dd's 34th bday.
Saturday dd and family arrived at 11:00. Thought ds' family would come to spend the day but ddil had other plans... was sad for grankids as they don't see each other alot and wanted to spend time together. Finally we went to a local egg hunt with dd and family was nice. Then ddil texted to ask us to go over for supper with her sis, bil and niece, so off we went. Came back around 8:30. was nice.
Sunday dh and I and dd's 2 stepkids had early breakfast, then ds texted asking if we were waiting for them for breakfast (thought they wouldn't come as they had ddil's family there), so told them to come over... they arrived at 9:00... same time electricity went off (until 11:45), so breakfast was eggs and toasts on the bbq. Sausages were already cooked, so just some reheating on bbq. Had a tourtiere in the oven (8 hours of cooking) when it went off, so that went on bbq too afterwards for awhile. Neighbors were also cooking breakfasts on bbq as they had family over for brunch too :)
Then we did the egg hunt and invited neighbor's 2 granddaughters too... each child had 9 eggs to find with each his own design, was great and they had lots of fun. A bit cold (the winds brrr....) but at least it wasn't raining (we wanted to do it Saturday but it rained all day).
Lunch was hotdogs on the bbq. Ddil's family left at 2:00. 2 of the grandkids napped and afterwards ds and dh took them to the park for over an hour. Ddil and dsil napped during that time. I sat outside with dd for awhile.
Supper was tourtière with a cake for the 2 bday girls. Sil and bil came for cake too. They gave the bath to the 4 grandkids and got them in pj's ready for bed when they got home. ds left around 7:30, dd around 8:00 and bil around 8:30.
Was a nice weekend.
