Happy Homemaker 2022-11-14

Morning!  what a week!  Some snow flurries this morning.. our 1st flurries this winter  DS has about an inch on the ground (he lives up the mountain - 5 minutes away from us)

Monday we had grandkids.  Had a dentist appointment but my root canal treatment did not work, so will have to see a specialist and they just called - outrageouse.. $320 for a consult, will have to call insurance because then it's $800 to $1000 just for the root canal.

Tuesday dh had grandkids while I worked in town.  They started new daycare on Wednesday morning and it seems to be working out very well.

I had stomach problems on Tuesday but went in to work anyways. Then around 4:00 started having quite a headache... which lasted until wednesday night with tylenols every 4 hours.  Accompanied with sore throat and some coughing.  Had a negative covid test on wednesday (was a real blah-day, felt awful during that day even though I managed to dust a few rooms and vac during my breaks and lunch hour since nothing had been done previous weekend).  Thursday did another covid test and was positive.  After headaches it was mostly coughing and congestion.  During the weekend mornings were blah but afternoons & evening felt ok.

Since I was staying home over the weekend , got the Christmas decorating done and boxes put away.  I have soooo much stuff, takes long to decorate, have to get rid of some stuff.  Had let go of a few things last year but need to let go of more.  I love what I have but would give it if someone wanted it in the family, but nobody does.  I know we will have to go through mom's Chrismtas stuff at some point (and she has a shed full of Christmas!) so I need to get down to the basics before that because I'm sure some of it will come here.  She has beautiful decorations.

I also cooked a full pot of chili and froze some.

DH finished all outside work - we are mostly ready for winter now.  Still have to put the plastic sheets over the gazebo when it's NOT windy.

Work - one cw is now on prolonged leave of absence... sigh... back to 4 in our team.. and new cw has only been with us 1 month so she is still learning and not yet ready to be on her own yet.

Christmas prep!
Plans will be changed this year so I need to plan for Christmas weekend instead of NY's Eve as in prior years.

Upcoming this week
Thursday - lunch with a cw who has a new baby but will skip it since my 10-day covid will not be over and don't want to chance it with the little baby.
Don't know if I will go in-town for work this week. (for sure not Tuesday as it will be too early). will depend on my boss - I would stay home because of covid but there are no restrictions anymore unless you have symptoms.

Looking around the house

It's Christmas!  lights are strung all through the house.  Red, gold and green and Santas everywhere.  Feels cozy and warm.
I changed my village in the bay window for the 1st time in MANY YEARS... put the nativity set in one corner and a sugar-shack with a log house in the other corner.  We had picked up Christmas trains from mom's house so one is now under the tree, need to get batteries and hoping it'll work.  put a small village with the train.

  2. I'm so sorry to hear about you not feeling well with COVID - praying it will be short lived with no lingering effects. Your grand kids are getting so big! Looks like a nice daycare - glad it's going well. I'm about as decorated as I will be this year, but am also continuing to go through and "downsize" to just my favorites! I'm really looking forward to the BIG blow out garage sale in March. I LOVE your funny, but boy isn't it the truth? I hope you have a good week and feel better soon.

  3. Sorry to hear you had COVID, hope you are on your way to a speedy recovery by now. Glad the kids found a new daycare, looks nice. I am ready to decorate for Christmas with our cold spell but as always, have to wait until after Thanksgiving. My SIL used to be the best at tangled tree lights back in the day. Hope you are having a wonderful and healthy week!
