Happy Homemaker 2026-10-19

Good morning!

Last week was a more routine week and a busy work week.  

Friday worked half day and went to town for errands and dh had a medical exam (routine) at 9:00 pm.  (we got there early and were out by 8:15).

Saturday and Sunday lots of housechores.  Saw grandkids a little on Sunday as we took them with us when I dropped off donations at the free center (you take you give, all is free).  Anne-E took a book on cats and Xavier some cards about dinosaurs and a snake and ladder game.

Xavier has not been feeling well since Saturday morning and skipped Sunday hockey practice and he had a hearache and sore throat.  They will be taking him to have a strep test at pharmacy this morning.

I've been coughing some but mostly in the mornings and evenings - nights are fine for now.

A nice sunny week - perfect to finish outside work.  Last week we had sleet one day and snowflakes on Saturday.

Looking around the house

Need to decorate for Halloween a little inside and outside but have done alot of housechores this weekend.

Thinking and pondering

Bought myself a Santa holding some Gingerbread cookies for the kitchen and got most of my basics for Christmas desserts as well as the chocolate I add to my homemade ornaments.  Also got myself a pair of lighted Christmas earrings :)... Christmas is in the air!

Over the weekend

• Vac main floor 
• Dust main floor
• Mop high-traffic areas
• Wash main bathroom
• Laundry
• Wash my bedding and put flannel bottom sheet on bed (for dh not me ;) )
• Deep-clean basement LRoom (walls, ceiling, floor, woodwork, furniture)
• Put away a few screen windows (waiting for it to get colder for the others)
• Put the boot trays by the front door
• DH had propane refilled last weekend for the fireplace this winter
• DH put an inside structure in gazebo (so the snow on the roof doesn't break it this winter)
• Drop off donations at 2 different places 

Monday

• Post here - DONE
• Prep for in-town work tomorrow - only working 2 days this week so no going into town
• Fold towels
• Halloween decor to put up
• Wash outside windows last time before winter
• 
  

Decluttering

• 1 outside solar lamp
• Fake small tree plant
• 1 bathing suit
• 1 pen
• Fall flowers outside seperated and some given to a cw
• 1 sleevless top
• 1 sweater
• 1 4-place swing sold on Marketplace

Simple pleasure

Having a clean house and being all ready to bundle up for winter.
