Good morning
Still coughing some but at least throat doesn't hurt anymore. Voice is still squeaky after 3 weeks.
Dad met with surgeon to see if his pancreatic cancer is operable or not. Since the tumor is next to some important vessels they are thinking chimio first and then will see if they will operate... in the meantime since he wasn't sure he was waiting for weekly surgeon meeting to discuss if it's the way they will go or if they won't operate at all. He says it's a big 5-6 hours operation.. they have to take off pancreas head, unplug duodenum and bile passage , take out tumor and put everything back together, and dad is 80 - even though he has never been sick in his life and was doing well until now. So next Tuesday is another meeting with oncologist and waiting for the call if operable or not. And if he does chemio it would probably be 3 months and then another scan to see if tumor has decreased.
Finally social worker met with my dad and 1 brother and they will give 8 hours a week of respite to dad and probably a few house for personal care for mom but it all has to be approved first so no idea when all of that will start.
Friday dad cut his thumb on electric saw, fortunately it wasn't bad. He got 6 suture points, tetanos shot and they will check to see if bone was touched but doc doesn't think so. Bro would've spent at least 15 hours waiting at urgent care but he called dad's doctor and she stopped by the house after work (doctors do NOT make house calls here!) and they went to the hospital where she works to make the suture points and shot.
My cousin is spending the weekend with them so she will take care of things and mom mostly and dad can get some rest.
Did not see grandkids this week or this weekend but daycare is on strike 3 days next week, so I'm guessing they will be here.
DH spent most of his days at ds' working on kitchen renovations. I had telework and nothing else. Did me good to have back some routine.
Weekend was spent on housechores for me and dh was at ds's so I got alot done. Saturday night we went to restaurant and had enough leftovers for lunch Sundays. I had the shrimp Tao with lots of sautééd veggies. Dh had the spaghetti & pizza. And I ate my dessert at home - 3 chocolate mousse.

Funny of the week
Oh, oh, so it remains exciting with your parents.
ReplyDeleteI will pray for you.
Here the doctor only comes to the house in special or serious cases.
I wish you much strength and a good week
Continued prayers for your Dad and family. Such a difficult thing to go through. I sat with my Mom through several chemo treatments. She fared well with them and praying your Dad does too!
ReplyDeleteI love that picture! He looks like he's having a great time.
Your week looks very busy. Make sure to make some time for yourself too. You're going through a stressful time and need to give yourself some grace!
I hope that your dad is able to get the best treatment possible and that all goes well. It sounds like he's in good hands.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote.
