Happy Homemaker 2022-10-24

Morning

So last week did not go as planned.  Daycare was closed on Monday so we babysat... and then Monday night the lady sent a message to parents... she is closed for good and there are no places available around here.  There is a temporary daycare available 3 half days a week (for a higher fee).  DH babysat Tuesday (I was working in town) and Wednesday.  Thursday & Friday they went to temporary daycare and their parents took care of them in the afternoons while teleworking (they do take 1,5 to 2 hour naps).  So that will be life around here for awhile.

Monday was 2nd time of root canal clean up at dentist, hurts less this time.

Tuesday after work I ran some errands, bought some boxes of chips for Halloween and a few things like hot sauces and srirachi mayo for stocking stuffers for dd and ds.

I ordered a book for me for Christmas, DrAxe's ancient medecine.  I think it should be very interesting.

Wednesday at noon had a haircut.

Friday grandkids came for supper and slept over.  they left Saturday after lunch.

Beautiful Fall weekend, nice temperatures... but  I had an inside to-do list! ah well will do it when I can... with grandkids here a few days a week it will take longer to get ready for Christmas, will do what I can.  I did finish making the Christmas ornaments for friends.  just need to add chocolate and wrap and they will be good to go.

On my mind
Daycare problem - hope it gets resolved for the best soon.  We are helping out as much as we can but it is a temporary solution.
Nov. 5 decided to go to Montreal for a cousin's supper, should be fun.  we will sleep over at my parent's and leave the snow tires to dd on our way.
Made reservations for a supper with some girls from work on Dec. 1st.
Need to find ideas for gifts for upcoming birthdays and Christmas!
We probably won't be going to my parent's for Christmas Eve as we have always done.. will discuss this here at another time.

Upcoming this week
Dh should babysit Wednesday and Friday .
Tuesday in-town work.
Next Saturday is my niece's birthday (they live in the next street from us), so we will be going to a family supper on my husband's side.

5 habits for happiness

On the menu this week
I guess we'll have to  start menu planning more with the grandkids here more often.

From the camera:

Looking around the house
I feel there are too many things in this house!  I need to declutter more.

On my to-do list

Over the weekend
  • Washed main bathroom
  • Washed our bedding
  • Vac'd and mopped main floor
  • Cut pineapple
  • Cut and froze bell peppers
  • Made onion soup and will freeze some
  • Put away screen windows from basement
  • Laundry
  • Washed main bathroom
  • Wash & remake my bed
  • Make a watercolor card for niece's bday next week
  • Prep card for nephew's birthday
  • Declutter & purge Halloween boxes
Monday
  • Post here - DONE
  • Pay cable bill (need to call them back AGAIN, prices gone up why?)
  • Put fairy lights on top of other kitchen cabinet
  • put chocolate in Christmas ornaments & wrap
  • Prep ornaments for girl's party dec. 1st & those for cousin's supper
  • Find a place to put away Halloween boxes in basement instead of having to take them back up in the attic after Halloween. - DONE but not quite satisfied, will ponder on this.
  • Deep-clean basement pantry - ouf! lots to do in there - DONE... we have dishwashing liquid, shaving cream and toothpaste for years to come!  think I'll give some away to the children.

Decluttering
  • 2 small children toys
  • 1 baby stroller (dh had picked it up for free last week but it is too small so we sent it to the thrift store
  • Emptied 2 boxes of Halloween stuff (gave away 1 cauldron, 1 styro head and 1 plastic curtain to a neighbor who does a big shing-ding for Halloween and she was very happy to receive and me to give)

To relax this week or In my crafting basket
If I can read or knit it'll be fine.. or sleep ;)
