CIJ day 13
Getting the rest of the house ready for houseguests (I found this article helpful Tips for hosting large groups of houseguests - Em for Marvelous - )
Cozy Christmas Home Tour - Micheala Diane Designs
Clear surfaces... lots of people coming over, you don't want visual clutter and it is so much easier to pick up afterwards
Clear out closet space in entryway for coats and boots (we have cold winders here)
Plan meals... I always plan ALL meals and get as much done before-hand as possible (snacks, fruits, desserts, bread, soups, breafkasts, lunch, supper)... use the crockpot on the days they are there so you can go out and come back to a warm meal.
Make a timeline – countdown of the days before they arrive... start at the arrival date and go backwards. (cleaning, cooking, ...)
Buy as much as you can before-hand (groceries and necessities)
Make sure all gift buying and gift wrapping is done beforehand and keep some supplies on hand if someone arrives with a gift and needs to wrap it.
Have all bathrooms fully stocked with necessities
Keep cleaning supplies on hand for small 'accidents' (spilled glasses, etc...)
Have laundry basket EMPTY before they arrive
Plan music list
Scents... I've got a beautiful Scentsy Christmas tree bought last year that I will use.
Drinking station that anyone can use anytime (tea, coffee, hot chocolate..)
A bin filled with mittens, scarves and hats if they feel like going out
Do you have other ideas?
