Last weekend we went to my parent's house (a 3 hour drive) because Sunday was my mom's 75th birthday. We are rarely there for her birthday as we usually see them the week after for vacations. So me & sis decided last Thursday night we would do a little something (can't do much since outside gatherings shouldn't be more than 20 people). It was a beautiful day so we stayed outside. Dad cooked a BIG chicken on the mechoui and we had hot-dogs with that. It was potluck style so everyone brought something. I only got to declutter one small bag of her stuff because we did not have time for that but sil went through the clothes that mom had for her kids and took out 7 bags.
Mom was not sure why everyone was there even though they all said happy birthay. :( Sometimes she is fine but when she is tired she forgets alot.
We stopped by my daughter's new appartment on the way back so dh could install the new wheels on her bbq (it had toppled over a few weeks back when a small tornado had passed and they had brocken). We had 2 boxes of stuff to bring back (she doesn't have space for those) and I have to find some place to put it away.
Rain in the forecast but a hot week with lots of humidity.
On my mind
Upcoming vacations and what we will be doing. Can't do too much yet as there are still restrictions and everything works with reservations so planning to be mostly home and do some things around the house and see some people!
On the breakfast plate
1 oat toast with marmelade and 1 glass of oat milk
On my reading pile

Glad you got to spend your mom's birthday with her - nice picture. I hope you have a great vacation next week and get everything done you want to. Enjoy the grand kids this week.
Glad you were able to see your mom on her birthday, sorry she didn't realize the occasion, that must have been a bit rough. That's a great idea to have a declutter calendar. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Hi Lucy! Sorry I'm late as usual but fun catching up on some of your Christmas in July posts too! Love the pillows - they are adorable!! Happy belated to your Mom. So sorry about the continued dementia issues. I feel your pain fully and remember how very hard those years were with my MIL. Love the videos you share! And your funny as always and I agree! Lol Blessings.

ReplyDeleteGreat photo of your family! I empathize with you over your mom's mental decline. My mom is in the midst of this and it is really difficult.
