Happy Homemaker 2024-08-19

Good morning

So last week ddil got her jaw broken at the hospital.  She had to be in early Tuesday morning so grandkids slept here Monday night.  She was operated Tuesday and ds spent evening with her at hospital so grandkids slept here Tuesday night.  She went home on Wednesday at noon but was still in much pain... so grandkids slept here Wednesday and Thursday too.  DH went with Xavier to his baseball game on Wednesday.

I worked in town on Thursday... new tasks were assigned... new people seem to be taking over lots... so it will be one day at a time.  I did a few errands on Thursday night.. local mall is getting emptier... they started closing the stores at 7:00!!  not much time to get around after work.  I managed to get myself a pair of Snoopy Christmas socks :), and a few other things.

Thursday ds picked up grandkids but we picked them up there after supper as ddil was having a hard time with her surgery effects and they slept here... in fact we drove them back home Saturday at noon.

Friday we took them with us to a music festival, they had lots of fun, there was a silent disco (with headphones), a few games and friends.

Saturday we went to Xavier's baseball practice and then they each could choose something at the dollarstore (bubbles for Anne-E and dinosaur for Xavier).  We had hot-dogs at ds' for lunch when we dropped them off.  Did a whole lot of nothing Saturday afternoon.  Saturday night we went to music festival again, 2 good music groups.

Sunday was rainy, so I did housechores and dh continued his painting (wood band around the house just under the roof).  Had supper with sil & bil at a pizza joint.

Today is rainy and cooler 19C... perfect for me!  A slow at-home day.

  2. How awful that ddil has such a problem with his jaw, hope it goes away soon.
But it's great that you were able to take care of the children.
    Now relax!
    Have a nice week

  3. Hello dear Lucie!
Your poor ddil. What a miserable ordeal. Hope she's feeling better and prayers sent for fast healing! 🙏🏻 Looks like the kiddos loved Grandma time, though, and that festival sure looks fun. Love your funny!! Lol For me it would be Chris Hemsworth (just sayin) 😉💕

    1. DDIL is still feeling so-so but it's only been 7 days, she is starting to eat soft food so that should help with the energy and moral.

  4. What do you do with the eggs you boil? I like to boil eggs often. It is handy to have them in the refrigerator for grabbing for snacks and we like them sliced on our green salads. But by far my favorite way to eat them is as egg salad on sandwich bread or crackers. Deviled eggs are good too!

    1. I use them the same way you do.. mostly egg salad or quick snack.

  5. Ha, great funny! He played the villain in the last Fast and Furious movie, and he was so good. I said he'd been miscast as the superhero in Aquaman, being a villain is where he shines. Sorry to hear about your mall closing so early, that would be a struggle. Hope your ddil feels much better and that you have a wonderful week!
