Christmas in July 2025 - Day 24

πŸŽ„ CIJ Day 24 – Cozy Reading Nook for the Holidays

It’s almost the end of our Christmas in July series, and today is all about creating a cozy holiday reading nook — a peaceful spot to curl up with a book, a blanket, and maybe a hot drink too.

You don’t need a whole room — just a quiet corner with a comfy chair, a pillow, and a few wintery touches.

πŸͺ‘ What to Include:

  • A cozy chair or bench

  • A warm blanket or throw

  • A small side table or basket for books

  • A holiday pillow or soft lighting (like a lamp or fairy lights)

Add a holiday book or your favorite winter novel and you’ve got your very own Christmas reading corner.

It’s perfect now with a summery iced coffee — and even better come December with cocoa and slippers!

πŸ“š Cozy Christmas Reading List

Here are some sweet and festive books to enjoy in your Christmas reading nook — now or during the winter holidays:

  1. "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens
The classic tale of redemption, ghosts, and the spirit of Christmas.

  2. "Winter Street" by Elin Hilderbrand
A feel-good family holiday novel set in a Nantucket inn during Christmastime.

  3. "The Twelve Dates of Christmas" by Jenny Bayliss
A charming holiday rom-com filled with British cheer and heartwarming moments.

  4. "Let It Snow" by John Green, Maureen Johnson & Lauren Myracle
Three interwoven holiday love stories for a snowy day.

  5. "The Gift" by Cecelia Ahern
A magical and touching story about second chances during the holidays.

  6. "One Day in December" by Josie Silver
A moving, romantic story that spans multiple Christmases.

  7. "Letters from Father Christmas" by J.R.R. Tolkien
Whimsical letters written by Tolkien to his children as if from Santa Claus.

✨ How to Style It:

  1. Lay the wood tray or slice on your table.

  2. Arrange the pinecones and greenery around the edge.

  3. Place a candle in the center or group several around it.

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 22

πŸŽ„ CIJ Day 22 – Seasonal Candlelight Moments

Today, let’s add a cozy flicker to your holiday decor with simple candle setups—perfect whether you're adding them to trays, shelves, or tables.

🌟 Why candlelight works:

  • Creates instant warmth and ambiance

  • Easy to update with seasonal accents

  • Compact and ideal for small spaces

πŸ•― Simple ways to style candles:

  • Group a few pillar or LED candles on a tray, then add pinecones or greenery

  • Use votive candles in glass holders placed on a shelf or windowsill

  • Layer on seasonal scents: cinnamon, vanilla, spruce

  • Pop a candle inside a hurricane vase with faux snow or beads at the base

Use the same candle holders year-round—just swap fillers according to season. A soft glow instantly makes your space feel festive, calm, and inviting—even in July.

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 21

πŸŽ„ CIJ Day 21 – Holiday Vignette in a Lantern

Today we’re making a mini holiday scene inside a lantern! It’s an easy way to decorate without needing much space, and you can switch it up each season.

πŸ•― Why a Lantern?

Lanterns add a warm glow and are easy to reuse. You can keep one out all year and just change what’s inside!

🎁 How to Make It Festive

Here’s how to style one for the holidays:

  • Start with a medium or large glass lantern.

  • Place a few small ornaments, pinecones, or a mini tree inside.

  • Add a flameless candle for cozy light.

  • Wrap a bit of ribbon or greenery around the top.

You can set it by your front door, on a shelf, or even as a centerpiece.

πŸ’‘ Bonus Tip:

Use a color theme like white and gold, or red and green — and keep it simple. Less is more here!

I have a lantern that I style for every occasion.  I bought some round fairy lights for it and it is beautiful.

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 19

πŸŽ„ CIJ Day 19 – Revisit: Neutral Color Styling

Welcome back to Christmas in July! Today, let’s take a quiet moment to revisit neutral color styling.

Neutral colors like white, beige, soft grey, and natural wood can bring a calm and cozy feeling to your home. When you use these colors for holiday decor, your space feels peaceful, warm, and not too busy.

🎨 Why choose neutral holiday colors?

  • They go with anything you already have.

  • You can use the same pieces for different seasons.

  • They help small spaces feel open and relaxing.

✨ Easy ways to add neutral holiday style:

  • White or cream-colored ornaments in a wooden bowl

  • Soft beige or linen stockings

  • Light-toned garlands (wood beads, jute, or paper stars)

  • Neutral throw pillows with simple holiday patterns

🧺 Storage tip:

Most neutral decor packs flat and stores well. Perfect for small spaces!

Take a look at today’s photos for a little inspiration.

This sweet and cozy movie is about a magical Advent calendar that seems to predict the future… and maybe even lead to love! It's cheerful, heartwarming, and perfect for a summer Christmas evening.

What to Eat & Drink:

Keep it easy and festive with this simple pairing:

πŸͺ Dessert: Sugar cookies — store-bought or homemade with red and green sprinkles
☕ Drink: Hot vanilla cream — just warm milk with a splash of vanilla, topped with whipped cream and cinnamon

Settle in with a blanket and fairy lights, and enjoy a magical night.

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 17

πŸŽ„ July 17 – A Holiday Basket That Works All Year

A holiday basket is one of the easiest ways to decorate your space. Today, we’re talking about how to make a multi-holiday basket — something you can use for Christmas, but also switch up for other seasons.

What You Need:

  • A nice neutral basket (wicker, white, wood, or wire)

  • A base like a small throw blanket, cloth napkin, or tea towel

  • A few simple items that can be changed with each season

Ideas for What to Add:

  • For Christmas: ornaments, a pine branch, bells, a mini sign

  • For Valentine’s Day: hearts, a love-themed tag, soft red or pink items

  • For Easter: small eggs, pastel decorations, faux flowers

  • For Fall: leaves, mini pumpkins, cozy tones

Where to Place It:

  • Coffee table

  • Entryway shelf

  • Kitchen counter

  • Guest room or bathroom

This kind of basket is easy to store and easy to update. You only need one — just change what’s inside!

Christmas in July 2025 - day 16

πŸŽ„ July 16 – Garland Ideas for More than One Holiday

Garlands are such a fun way to decorate! Today we’re talking about multi-holiday garlands — ones that you can use for Christmas, but also for other holidays like Valentine's Day, Easter, or even birthdays.

Why use multi-holiday garlands?

They save space, time, and money. You don’t have to store a lot of decorations when one garland works for different times of the year!

Easy Ideas:

  • Neutral garland with clips – Add holiday cards or photos to change the look for each season.

  • Wooden bead garland – Choose natural tones, then tie on small ribbons in colors for the holiday.

  • Mini banner garlands – Make one base and change out the flags (hearts for Valentine’s, stars for Christmas, eggs for Easter).

Where to use them:

  • Over the mantel

  • Across a mirror or picture frame

  • On shelves or your kitchen hutch

  • Along a window

Garlands are small to store, easy to swap, and bring a festive feel to any space.

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 15

πŸŽ„ July 15 – Interchangeable Holiday Sign Frame

A fun and simple way to decorate all year round is with an interchangeable sign frame.

You only need one frame, and then you can switch out the print or design inside for each holiday — Christmas, Easter, Halloween, even birthdays!

This saves space, money, and makes decorating super easy.

How to Use It:

  • Choose a neutral frame that fits your style.

  • Print small signs with festive words or pictures for each season.

  • Keep your printed inserts in a folder or envelope so they’re easy to grab and change.

For Christmas in July, you could display a mini print that says:
“Merry & Bright” or “Believe”.

It’s a great way to bring cheer into your space — without making a mess or needing storage bins.

I've also used frames with scrapbook paper as a background and a cutout of a beautiful Christmas card glued on top... have Santa frames in the kitchen which I then remove for other holidays.

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 14

πŸŽ„ July 14 – DIY Tiered Tray for Multi-Holidays

One of my favorite decor ideas is a tiered tray. It’s small, doesn’t take up much space, and is so fun to decorate all year long.

For today’s post, I’m showing you how to create a DIY tiered tray setup that works for Christmas and other holidays too.

Why a Tiered Tray?

  • It fits easily on a table, counter, or shelf.

  • You can swap out the decorations for different seasons.

  • It’s perfect for small spaces or minimalist decorating.

What You’ll Need:

  • A tiered tray (metal, wood, or ceramic)

  • Small items like mini trees, signs, figurines, candles

  • Neutral items that work year-round (wood beads, greenery, small jars)

For Christmas in July:

  • Add a tiny Santa, red ribbon, or a holiday sign

  • Use peppermint candies, a tiny wreath, or faux snow

Later, you can remove the Christmas pieces and replace them with hearts for Valentine’s, eggs for Easter, or pumpkins for fall. Just one tray, all year long!

I've made a few easy gnomes with styrofoam cones and felt for each holiday for my tiered-trays.  Here's an easy gnome tutorial

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 13

πŸŽ„ July 13 – Cozy Holiday Baskets

Today’s idea is all about adding simple coziness to your home with holiday baskets. These are great for small spaces, easy to store, and super versatile!

You can fill a holiday basket with:

  • Rolled-up festive blankets

  • A few wrapped faux gifts

  • Pinecones, ornaments, or greenery

  • A candle and a holiday mug

Try placing a basket by the couch, near the front door, or at the bottom of the stairs. It’s an easy way to add warmth and style without taking up much space.

And when the season’s over? Just remove the holiday bits and keep using the basket all year long!

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 12

πŸŽ„ CIJ Day 12 – Holiday Photo Frame Ornaments

One of my favorite decorations for the holidays is a photo frame ornament. These are small picture frames you can hang on your Christmas tree — and they add such a personal, cozy touch!

You can fill them with photos of your family, pets, favorite places, or even old holiday cards. They’re perfect for remembering good times, and they make your tree feel truly special.

You can also reuse them year after year, and they’re small and easy to store.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Choose neutral frames or classic styles so they work well with your tree theme every year.

These are a lovely way to decorate — and they make sweet gifts too.

I'd love to make photo ornaments this year as gifts for my friends and family.. I'm working on ideas for this

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 11

πŸŽ„ July 11 – Friday Night at the Movies: Joyeux NoΓ«l

It’s Friday — and that means it’s Holiday Movie Night! 🎬

Each Friday in July, we’re watching a cozy Christmas movie and adding a fun snack + drink pairing to make it extra special.

πŸŽ₯ Tonight’s movie: Joyeux NoΓ«l (2005)

This beautiful film tells the true story of a Christmas truce during World War I. It’s touching, powerful, and perfect for a quiet evening.

πŸ§€ Snack idea: Charcuterie Board

Make a simple tray with cheese, crackers, meats, and fruit. Add a few festive extras like nuts or olives!

🍷 Drink pairing: Mulled Wine or Warm Spiced Juice

Serve warm wine with spices like cinnamon and cloves — or try warm apple juice with orange slices for a non-alcoholic option.

πŸ•―️ Cozy tip:

Light some candles, put on soft music before the movie, and enjoy a calm, cozy evening with meaning.

Christmas in July 2025 - day 10

πŸŽ„ July 10 – A Neutral Color Scheme with Holiday Pops

Welcome to Day 10!

Let’s talk about choosing a neutral color base for your holiday decor — with small pops of color for each season. This makes your home feel calm, cozy, and stylish all year long.

🀍 Start with a neutral base:

Use soft, simple colors like:

  • White

  • Beige

  • Gray

  • Wood tones

These colors look beautiful with any holiday and never go out of style.

πŸŽ„ Add pops of holiday color:

Once your base is neutral, it’s easy to switch up the look! For Christmas, add:

  • Red or green pillows

  • A plaid blanket

  • Ornaments in a bowl

  • A little greenery or berries

Later, you can trade those for pink in February or yellow in spring — no need to change everything.

This way, your decor stays easy and elegant, and you don’t need big bins of stuff to create the holiday mood!

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 9

πŸŽ„ July 9 – DIY Multi-Holiday Decor

Day 9 is all about getting crafty! 🎨

Let’s make some DIY decorations that you can use for more than one holiday. These projects are fun, easy, and great for saving space.

πŸ› ️ Why DIY multi-holiday decor?

  • You can use it again and again

  • It’s easy to change colors or styles

  • It adds a personal touch to your home

  • It's budget-friendly!

🧡 Ideas to try:

  • Wood bead garlands – Paint them red + green for Christmas, then switch to pastels or leave them neutral for year-round use.

  • Chalkboard signs or whiteboard frames – Write holiday messages that you can erase and update anytime.

  • Mini banners or felt garlands – Use clips to swap out shapes and colors for each season.

  • Mason jars or jars with ribbon – Fill with candy canes at Christmas, candy hearts in February, or tiny eggs in spring.

Pick just one project and have fun with it! These crafts make it easy to decorate without needing a lot of storage space.

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 8

πŸŽ„ July 8 – Multi-Holiday Decor Basics

Welcome to Day 8 of our Christmas in July series!

Today we’re keeping things simple with decor that works all year—perfect for Christmas, Valentine’s, Easter, and more.

🌿 Here's how to style it:

  • Start with neutral pieces like wood, glass, or white candles

  • Add a small pop of colour (red for Christmas, pink for Valentine’s)

  • Keep the rest soft and calm—think greenery, natural textures, and simple shapes

  • Swap accents seasonally, but use the same base items all year

This lets you decorate for any holiday without clutter—and keeping things peaceful and elegant!

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 7

πŸŽ„ July 7 – Tea Towels & a Holiday Tray

Happy Day 7 of our Christmas in July fun!

Today we’re adding a festive touch to your kitchen or dining space using holiday tea towels and a simple tray centerpiece.

These are small touches — but they make a big difference!

πŸ«– Why use tea towels?

Holiday tea towels are:

  • Easy to fold or hang on your oven or hooks

  • Super cute and festive

  • Easy to store — just fold them with your regular linens!

Look for ones with little trees, snowflakes, or your favorite holiday colors. You only need one or two to make the space feel special.

πŸͺ΅ Try a tray centerpiece too:

Take a wooden or metal tray, and add:

  • A candle

  • A mini tree

  • Some ornaments

  • Or a small string of fairy lights

This makes a lovely focal point for your table, counter, or even a shelf.

Sunday, 6 July 2025

Christmas in July 2025 - Day 6

πŸŽ„ July 6 – Ornament Bowls

Welcome to Day 6 of the Christmas in July series!

Today’s idea is one of the easiest and prettiest ways to decorate: ornament bowls.

Instead of hanging all your ornaments on the tree, try placing a few in a bowl or tray on your table, shelf, or dresser. It takes almost no time — and you don’t need much space.

✨ Why use ornament bowls?

  • Easy to change anytime

  • Takes no storage (just reuse a bowl you already have!)

  • Looks festive in any room — even the kitchen or bathroom!

🎨 How to make one:

  1. Pick a bowl, tray, or basket — glass, wood, or even a small crate

  2. Add some shiny ornaments in your favorite holiday colors

  3. You can mix in pinecones, beads, ribbon, or fairy lights too

Try using all red ornaments for a bold look, or mix gold, silver, and white for something softer. This is such a fun and relaxing way to decorate — and perfect for small spaces.
