Last Monday of the year!
Goodbye 2025... it was a rough year (loss of Dad and mom being placed in a home for her Alzheimer's). Hoping 2026 will be a year of settling down.
Christmas EVE was at dd's this year, we were 26 for supper and evening (roastbeef, mashed potatoes, gravy, pea soup, glazed carrots, ice cream yule logs). Snacking in the afternoon, veggies, dip, chips, cheese and charcuterie board with some fruits and crackers. Evening snacking deviled eggs (forgot to take them out in the afternoon), fudge, skors' squares, rice-krispie squares and thumbprint cookies
Me and dh left on the 23rd to go to her place to help her with cleaning up and prepping some food. DD was working until 3:30 pm.
Was a nice evening and was a nice suprise for the girls - I had bought christmas pj tops for all of them and the Christmas ornament this year was of mom & dad. Brought a few tears.
Santa and Ms. Clause came to give the young ones a few gifts too.
We went to bed around past 11:00 pm and the latest was 12:15.
Up early on the 25th, sis had brought everything for the breakfast with mimosas (bro had brought the champagne for that). All had slept over except for 2 nieces, 2 boyfriends and 1 sil. The others left around 10:30 on the 1st and we left at 11:15 after helping clean up a bit. DD was going to her in-laws with family for a few days after that (a 2-hour ride). We got back home around 1:15 and unpacked and did laundry and relaxed.
26, 27 was prepping basement for guests on the 31st (and having my IBD flare up those 2 days). Today was a Costco run (600$!! and missing all the fresh produce for NY's Eve). Of course there were a few articles of clothing in there and staples that will not be used for NY's Eve. Got my new costco card as there were not many people.
28 DH went with ds and grandkids to the outdoor skating rink in the afternoon. Went for hamburgers with sil and bil for supper. then went to other sil to give gifts to nephew and niece.
29,30 will be prepping food (dh wants to make donuts on the 29th in the morning) and cleaning up main floor and more grocery shopping.
