My most precious ornaments.  These were made for my husband and I by my niece who died at the age of 7.  She made these while she was sick.  I’m so glad I had the idea of asking her to make some ornaments for the whole family before she passed (brain cancer).  At that point only one of her arms was still working and she couldn’t walk anymore.

The pink rhinoceros is for my husband

 

The ornament has my name on it.

 

Both my children also have their ornament made by their little cousin.

This one is made of Olive wood.  It represents the Reason for the Season.  I bought it at a church store and it was blessed by a priest.

More candy!  I would love to make a Candycane / candy décor at some point… or a whole candy tree.

This one is also a cozy-feeling ornament.  It’s about  taking our time and relaxing during this Happy Season.

I like this one for the cozy feeling it gives me.  A S’more!  It has the taste and the smells associated to Christmas.

Softie horse ornament, this one reminds me of old-fashioned toys and I just find it beautiful.

A mouse.  I’ve been seeing mice in trees for the last few years and just had to have one.  It is so nice, reminds me of The Night Before Christmas when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

Birds, I love to add birds to my tree.  This one I bought because I loved the old-metal look and the tender green of it.

This is another ornament from A Christmas story.  The famous lamp leg!  It was such a sensation in the small town when the Dad won it  :)  The mom wasn’t too impressed though.

This one is from A Christmas story

It is so funny in the film when Ralphie’s aunt sends him this cute pink bunny outfit.   Poor Ralphie!

This ornament I received from my niece Kasandra, the first year she started working and buying Christmas gifts.  Isn’t it cute?

This one I received from another MHH Friend.  She knew I loved the Polar Express and had done the Believe bells for my niece and nephew.

My niece and nephew made this hat for me 2 years ago.  So special when it is handmade gifts by the little ones.  Cute little hat.

I received this from a ‘virtual’ friend in the Christmas group I am part of on the internet, Magical Holiday Home.  These ladies are precious friends and I count myself lucky to have them in my life.

I received two of these, they are so cute!

Now for those ornaments I have received as gifts.  This one was made by my cousin Manon who lives almost 9 hours away from us.  Lol! She didn’t realize the shipping charges would be so excessive.

It is a Christmas tree she made out of wood.

2^nd summer at Hampton Beach.    I thought this ornament represented the Beach very well.  It is so cute made out of wood.

Summer vacation at Hampton Beach.  We went there for 2 summers with sis and BIL.  We got a hotel right by the seaside (we shared a room – quite expensive during the July period).  That’s a RELAXING vacation.  We don’t have a beach anywhere near here and I just love the sound of the waves and the grandeur of it all.

New Orleans, Louisiana!

Another long 4-day weekend with sis, bil, dh’s sis, and bil.  I really liked New Orleans, it’s up there with Boston in my mind.  Of course, we went in July which is not the smartest idea… way too hot and humid!  On the other hand, there are not many tourists so we got to visit a lot with no waiting time.  We saw the devastation hurricane Katrina brought to New Orleans – incredible the water levels that were attained.

My favorite was the visit we made in the Bayous to see the alligators – wow!  We got to see many (as well as huge spiders) and we had the most fantastic time with our guide on the fan-boats.

We had a great hotel in the French Quarter, on the street parallel to Bourbon Street.

Viva Las Vegas!  Another long 4-day weekend to Las Vegas (a LONG air-trip) with my sister, bil, and dh’s sister and bil.  It’s worth seeing once but too me Las Vegas is way too commercial and artificial – my favorite place to see was the Grand Canyon.  Wow, wow, wow.  It is exceptional.

Boston!  I REALLY liked Boston.  It’s smaller than NY City, but so much more real.  We visited on a 4-day weekend with my sister and brother-in-law S.  We stayed at the edge of town and used the shuttle and public transportation.  We also got to visit Salem.

I cheated on my Boston ornament… we had lunch at CHEERS (I just LOVED that tv series, have all the dvds to prove it) and wanted a Cheers ornament but they were VERY expensive (around $25), so I ordered it on Amazon when we got back from our trip.

It is musical and plays the them of the Cheers tv series.  Everytime I put it on the tree I make it play a few times.  To me it is magical.

I’m not sure I’ll put the ornaments in proper order of travel (I don’t remember the years).

This one was one of our first long weekend trips with my sister, brother-in-law S and dh’s sister and brother-in-law G.

We went to New York – we stayed directly in town near Times Square and got to visit lots.  That’s when me and my sister decided that from now on our ‘Souvenir’ from each place we would go would be a Christmas ornament.  We always bring one back for my mother

because she loves Christmas too.

Starting today I’ll show you the ornaments we picked up when we traveled for our vacations.

Our first one was when we went all four of us and my sister’s family to Walt Disney World.  A trip I’m sure the children will NEVER forget. 

I had gone with my parents and sis when we were younger and had always said I’d go with my children.  My son said that when he’d have children he would take them there too… and a tradition was born 😉

It’s a wooden ornament (picture isn’t too great) with Mickey and Minnie Mouse on it.

The very first ornament I bought with my work money, I was 16 and it was expensive way-back-when .. I think it was around $6.  I had bought it in a specialised boutique near where my grandfather worked.  I fell in love with it and bought it for when I had my own tree later on in life.

I guess my love Santas started there 😊
